Mother nature is a precious gift that provides us with the resources necessary for our survival. However, in recent times, the reckless actions of humans have resulted in widespread destruction and degradation of our natural environment. It is high time that we start taking collective action to protect and preserve our environment, which is critical to our long-term survival. By taking simple steps like reducing plastic usage, planting more trees, conserving water, and supporting sustainable practices, we can make a significant difference in protecting our planet.
The consequences of not taking action to save our environment are dire, and we risk damaging the very resources we rely on for our survival. We need to raise awareness about the urgent need to act, both individually and collectively, to preserve our planet. It is time to acknowledge the role we play in the destruction of our environment and take concrete steps to mitigate our impact. By working together and taking small steps toward a sustainable future, we can ensure that future generations inherit a planet that is livable, healthy, and full of natural wonders. It is our responsibility to take action and save mother nature for the sake of our survival and the survival of all living beings on this planet.

“Plant trees. They give us two of the most crucial elements for our survival: oxygen and books.” – Whitney Brown[1]

On January 27, 2023, the Cadet joined Patnongon MPS personnel in a meaningful Tree Planting and Coastal Clean Up activity in Brgy. Amparo, Patnongon, Antique. The LGU MENRO led the event in partnership with the Philippine Coastguard and various advocacy support groups, including Citizen Crime Watch, VACCUP, BANTAY BAYAN, Tau Gamma Phi, KKDAT, 4Ps, Brgy. Officials, and Brgy. Tanods.

Together, the participants planted 200 Talisay tree seedlings and collected 12 sacks of the garbage along the shoreline. This initiative supports the PNP Core Values of Makakalikasan and the CPNP flagship program called "MALASAKIT + KAAYUSAN + KAPAYAPAAN = KAUNLARAN(MKK=K)," which promotes a Greener, Cleaner, and Healthier Environment.
COASTAL CLEANING

During the activity, the Cadet witnessed how the community united to clean the shoreline of Brgy. Amparo, which was severely affected by Typhon Paing. The storm brought heavy rain, and the river overflowed toward the residential area, causing damage and affecting many residents. The community's efforts to plant trees and clean up the area can help prevent such incidents from happening
again.

The Cadet hopes that this activity serves as an inspiration to the community to care for the environment. Mother Nature has shown its power, and it is time for us to value and protect it. As Alfred Basha said, "When it comes to global warming, everybody wants to change the world but nobody wants to change himself." Let us take action to save Mother Earth, and every small step counts.
